Internships, Fellowships & Grants

The CSHL Center for Humanities & History of Modern Biology supports scholarship, education, and librarianship by awarding fellowships of four types each year.

Stipends to support research in CSHL collections are also available through the . CHSTM’s fellowship program includes a number of options to fund research across the scholarly collections of the consortium, including CSHL. Please see the Consortium’s for more the most up-to-date details.

Sydney Brenner Research Fellowship

Sydney Brenner Research Fellowships recognize and support historians, writers, and artists who are engaged in ambitious and significant work on the history of the life sciences.

Research Travel Grants defray travel and lodging costs for individuals planning to travel to the Archives for research purposes.

Celia and Wally Gilbert Artist-in-Residence Program

Artists who can interpret scientific research elements into accessible works of art—paintings, novels, poetry, and more—will connect with CSHL scientists who can explain the significance of their research, lessening the prevailing distance between the public and science.

Ellen Brenner Memorial Fellowship

Ellen Brenner Memorial Fellowship is awarded to scientists, medical professionals, library-science students and graduates, and others—anyone who is exploring a career path that might encompass work as research librarians, science informationists, and/or archivists.

The ¶¶Òõ»Æ°æÏÂÔØ Library & Archives offers an internship opportunity for high school students called the Gardiner Young Scholars Program, which is generously supported by The Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.
