Community grants breathe life into local initiatives

Nine local not-for-profit organisations have received a much-needed boost after sharing in almost $60,000 through Round 34 of the ¶¶Òõ»Æ°æÏÂÔØ’s Community Grants Program.

Funding will support projects ranging from events and cultural storytelling to sport, safety and mental health initiatives.

¶¶Òõ»Æ°æÏÂÔØ Mayor Jerry Clune congratulated the successful recipients.

“Our Grants Program plays an integral role in enabling local groups to make a tangible difference in enhancing the liveability of Greater Geraldton,” he said.

“This round of funding has a strong creative focus, and I'm delighted to see how these initiatives will flourish following the City’s funding.

“If you are part of an organisation that would benefit from a financial boost for your project, don’t hesitate to apply when the next round of funding is announced.”

Successful applicants in this round include:

  • Geraldton Softball Association $10,000 for Utakarra Dugout Redevelopment
  • Geraldton Women’s Shed $10,000 for Geraldton Women’s Shed Building Project
  • St John Ambulance WA $10,000 for Geraldton L and P‑Plater First Aid Safety Program
  • Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation $9,000 for Yamatji on Country Elders Film Project
  • Creative Corner Inc. $8,671 for Saltwater Women of the Midwest: Ebb and Flow of Personal Stories
  • Geraldton Anglican Cathedral $6,000 for Handel’s Messiah Concert
  • Healthy Mind Menu Charity $2,000 for Mental Health in Hospitality Regional Roadshow
  • Geraldton Yacht Club Inc.  $2,000 for Safety Rescue Support Boat Outboard Motor Upgrade
  • Geraldton Longboard Club $2,000 for Advertising and Promotional Upgrade

Eligibility requirements and upcoming grant opportunities are available on the City’s online grants portal .

The Community Grants Program falls under the Connected theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting and celebrating a diverse community through programs that build social connections.
